January 8, 2017 – Las Vegas, NV – San Francisco based startup, Viddyad, won the Advertising Category of this year’s Extreme Tech Challenge (XTC) 2017 at CES 2017. Viddyad was selected from thousands of businesses as the top advertising company in this year’s contest. The Advertising Category was sponsored by Treasure Data, a big data company, who currently serve some of the world’s largest brands including Warner Bros, Pioneer, Mitsubishi, and Subaru. Treasure Data has received capital from notable investors such as Jerry Yang of Yahoo! and Bill Tai. Although the competition is only in its third year, previous winners of XTC include Bloomlife and Wanderu, who have gone on to raise over $12m+ in investment.
Winning the Advertising Category of XTC comes as a big victory for Viddyad, who took the Grand Prize at the L’Oreal USA Inspiration Day back in September. Viddyad’s momentum only seems to be increasing, having recently been named in Unilever’s Adtech 15 (top 15 ad tech startups), Unilever’s Foundry 50 (top 50 marketing tech startups) and named by Mediacom as one of four Future Tech Disruptors in Commerce.
“It’s no secret that advertisers are flocking to digital video at the expense of traditional formats. Video has become a huge part of every brand’s marketing mix – and this is why we’re getting such traction. We anticipated this trend, which is why we are one of the only companies in the world offering a turnkey solution that enables centralised video creation, customization, personalization, optimization, and control for brands, at scale” – Grainne Barron, Founder & CEO, Viddyad.
With 100m hrs of video being watched every day on Facebook and the likes of Snapchat racing towards an IPO, the growth of video means huge opportunity for businesses and brands. As Facebook annouces their plans to launch “mid-roll” video ads, this win couldn’t have come at a better time for Viddyad.
