Go where your audience is…
Following the latest ComScore report, it’s become clear that online video advertising has well and truly arrived. In November 2013 alone:
Americans watched 47.1 billion online content videos in November, while the number of video ad views totaled 26.8 billion
Let’s compare these figures to November from the previous year:
2012 | 2013 | % Increase | |
Online content videos | 39.9 billion | 47.1 billion | 18% |
Video ad views | 10.5 billion | 26.8 billion | 155% |
With a huge 155% jump in video ads viewed online, advertisers everywhere are moving from banner and text ads to video. Viddyad is helping companies make this move, but where are people placing their video ads?
You might be surprised to hear that the leader in video ad impressions is still (for now) AOL, Inc. with 3.9 billion video ad impressions.

November 2013 video ad impressions
This means that 3.9 billion video advertisements were shown across their network. When AOL acquired Adapt.tv they also acquired their video advertising exchange. AOL’s other properties include advertising.com.
So from views alone, here’s a top 5 list of where to place your new Viddyad video:

What about SMBs?
Most of the platforms mentioned above serve up solutions for larger businesses with a steady, large and varied advertising budget. In our experience, for simplicity and ease of use, we would still suggest using Google’s advertising solutions.
With their integration into YouTube, which is still the largest and easiest video hosting platform, it makes it easy to start a video campaign. On top of this, once your video is uploaded to YouTube, you can use your YouTube link to place video ads with Google AdWords and other services with ease.
